Recently, I've been very interested in portraits and traditional rendering methods. One of my "new" techniques for rendering revolves around the use of charcoal. I sketch out the construction lines using a light graphite pencil and then begin to block in the values using a charcoal pencil. I have also found the use of a soft brush extremely helpful! A lot of fun and I will definitely be using charcoal far more in my studies and sketches :)
